FIVENSON STUDIOS TECH NEWS

Visual search has come a long way in a short time, thanks in no small part to the development team that introduced the CamFind app (http://camfindapp.com/). Hands down, CamFind is today’s best example of how useful and powerful visual search can be.

CamFind turns any smartphone camera into a virtual, visual search engine. Just take a picture of something – anything – and the massive database will quickly get to work identifying what’s in the image. See related images, local results, shopping options and a slew of relevant web pages in seconds. Most smartphone users probably at some point have had the notion that their phone’s cameras might be capable of much more – but Image Searcher, Inc., the company behind CamFind, is among the first to begin realizing that awesome potential.

The applications of CamFind are limited only by users’ imaginations, and the app definitely encourages users to get experimental. And because the app relies on deep learning – continually improving by learning from mistakes – it gets “smarter” every day.

CamFind CEO Dominik Mazur explains one of the app’s most important features: “Every search returns results. Other would-be visual search engines return either a complete result or no result whatsoever. CamFind will always tell you something about what it sees. We think that’s important when building an app that will become increasingly fast, powerful and accurate.”

Social Search

The latest update to CamFind for iOS introduces familiar social features, adding a new layer of interaction for end users. You can now “like” and “favorite” images and searches, as well as view a live stream of ongoing visual searches anywhere in the world. CamFind’s developers have said that additional social and interactive features are in the pipeline.

It’s important to distinguish CamFind’s social features from social networks that are merely image based. The two could not be more different. Pinterest, Instagram and similarly visual social networks are just collections of images, most of them what you might call “contrived,” but the networks aren’t built to recognize images. CamFind, on the other hand, not only recognizes but understands images.

CloudSight API Now Publicly Available to Developers

The CloudSight API leverages the same visual search functionality as the CamFind app, providing companies and developers with a tremendous tool to incorporate into their won applications. The API integrates smoothly across all devices and platforms. Ultimately, companies can same time and money by adopting CloudSight rather than developing proprietary solutions to the challenge of visual search. After all, why reinvent the wheel?

A Bright Future for Visual Search

Image Searcher, Inc., the company behind CamFind and CloudSight, has reason to be optimistic. CamFind has now surpassed 2 million downloads, and CloudSight has earned great reviews from developers already applying the technology to their own projects. The company has 11 patents pending for its revolutionary visual search solution. Investors clearly see the potential as well – the company just closed a $4.8 million funding round.
